I really need a clone or three.

I only have a minute this morning. Because I have such a busy schedule ahead that the idea of hiding myself in a closet with a gallon of water and a bag of flavor blasted nacho goldfish (or two) is looking really good to me right now.

All morning I have been cleaning the house and finishing up some over due laundry then I am off to pick up a house warming gift for our new neighbors (they are moving in today) and a birthday gift for a little one who just turned 5. Then I am off to take Brooke to a birthday party then back home to meet some friends. Then... Then... Then...

Arghhh! I hate days like this.

So, I am off and I will leave you with Josh Keyes and his amazing paintings/drawings.

Be sure to explore his site, you won't be sorry you did.

Have a great day!

Come Peek Into Our Home.

It's hard to believe that we moved into our new house almost 8 months ago!  And while it is still rather bare in some rooms, others are starting to fill in and this house is no longer just a house, it has become our home. When we are out and about, none of us can wait to come back home - we just love it here :)

Since I have really only showed the outside of our new house, I thought I'd give you a wee peek inside...

Welcome!

There it is! I love it :) I also love the cul-de-sac which Brooke and all her friends play in daily.
Our Home :)

Here is the front door. I plan on getting some large pots to place some plants in on either side of the door.

Come on in!

(The picture frames on the table were a house warming gift from my sister and that is the mirror Mrs. Dee gave to us)
Foyer

This is the Formal living room, eventually we will have some furniture in here but for now - it's is where the bloggy magic (or lack there of) happens.
Formal Living Room

This is the dining room. That is Brooke's recital costume hanging from the chandelier - it's in the "tutu poofing process" :)
Dining Room

Here is my favorite place, the kitchen!!  (dirty dishes and all, lol)

And here is the other side of the kitchen:

And the eat in area of the kitchen. This is usually where we eat dinner unless we have guests or it is Friday night (family game night)

Just on the other side of the kitchen bar is the family room:

Off the family room you will find garage access:

Blessings All Around Us...

About three weeks ago a couple doors down from us two of the nicest people I have ever met in my life moved in. They are both in their late seventies and are truly the Grandparents you wished you had. If they spot us outside, they invite us in to chat or for coffee and of course Mrs. Dee wants to feed us because in her mind, we are all looking "a bit thin" :) And Mr. Mark he wants to enjoy the company of my sweet little one and likes to shower her with wonderful little temporary tattoos! And their stories... oh they are wonderful! I could (can) sit there for hours and listen intently.

Yesterday as Brooke and I were out in the yard they called us over and  Mrs. Dee had some beautiful treasures she wanted to gift to us. She said she simply had no room for all her items and wanted us to have them. I thought it so sweet.

Here are a few of the items she gave us. If I had to pick a favorite it would be a tie between the large mirror and the blue vase. The pictures just don't do them justice...

This Charming Tales little piece was given to Brooke: It is titled "Lucky to know you"

This is the blue vase that I love!

This is a vase? that Mrs. Dee picked up in Japan and there's a glimpse of a Lefton Seasons wall plate there too...

A sweet little bird decoration.
The very heavy absolutely stunning antique mirror that belonged to Mrs. Dee's grandmother. This picture just doesn't do it justice, it is so pretty!
Brooke and I have decided to bake some goodies today to show our appreciation for the two of them. I am so glad they are here. Not because they give us things but because I love who they are, the stories they tell us but most all I love that they are warming our hearts, we needed that.

Brooke's New Trick!

Brooke: "Man it would be so fun to be a dog! I could pee anywhere I want, poop anywhere I want and itch my butt anytime I want!"

Me: (Speechless) I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time!

If you haven't seen "Toby's New Trick" then click here to watch it first...

I really need to bake something!

Why? Why? you ask.

Oh well this is why! Check out my latest find:

I am giddy like a little girl at Christmas I tell ya! And side from the fact that I have always wanted a Kitchen Aid,  the best part is - it was a cool $45! and that's no typo!

It also came with the splash guard, dough hook, whisk and paddle :)

Well I am off to make anything that needs mixing, lots and lots of mixing!

A little Nostalgic...

nos·tal·gi·a (n-stlj, n-) - bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past.

Within about a mile or two from our new home there is this little produce store that I have fallen in love with. Not so much for the produce but for the things that take me back in time, things that aren't readily available at the local supermarket, things that make me feel all warm and fuzzy...

Here's what I picked up today:

  • Cheerwine! (I used to love this cherry soda, I can't wait to drink it)
  • Coca-Cola in a glass bottle (I already enjoyed this one)
  • Nehi Orange (Yum Diddly Yum)
  • 2 Pecan Rolls (My favorite!)
  • A box of locally made Peanut Brittle (Reminds me of my Granny M.)
  • Rock Candy (Always good)
  • And last but certainly not least: Honees Honey Filled Drops! I absolutely love these honey filled candies. I haven't had one in forever but the moment I put one in my mouth I remembered why I love them so much!
Now if I can get them to get their hands on some Blackjack and/or Clove gum and some Apple Beer I'll be set!

Brooke loves to go there too! She calls it "the old fashioned store" and likes to get a mini glass bottled Sprite, some salt water taffy and a cup of cajun boiled p-nuts.

Mr. & Mrs. Motorcycle

If I hear the word "motorcycle" or anything that could lead to the words "motorcycle" or "bike" ie: gloves, helmet, tire, jacket, blah, blah blah... someone may need to get me a bucket. pronto.

You see a month or.. two ago (I'm not really sure to be perfectly honest with you because it's all I hear about so it seems like a year ago) my wonderful husband bought and came home with this:

Mainly because he wanted to but he used this ingenious excuse: "it's so cost effective that the money we will save on gas will pay for the bike!"

Imagine that.

So, after much internal debate I decided to support him and made several rules, like:

You WILL call me and let me know you are alive once you arrive at your destination every time you leave - for as long as I want - even if you feel like you are 15.

and my favorite rule:

You WILL NOT do anything stupid or I will sell it.

The above is my favorite because I left it so open, lol. I mean "stupid" could cover a whole array of things.

He agreed to all of the rules and has surprisingly followed through on each of them. But every time he leaves a little part of me dies from stress and it's only when he calls upon arrival that  I can pick my heart up off the floor and breathe normally again.

So, we had a new bike, a new ride, a cool new truly inexpensive, cost effective thing in our arsenal.

Wrong. I quickly found out that you can't just buy a bike, oh no no. Once you buy the bike then you must buy a helmet and a jacket and gloves and a new tire and a backpack and... you get the point, right?

Just to make sure I am clear: all of these things are necessary and you can't be "cheap" or even "frugal" when it comes to these accessories because it could come down to life or death. I mean seriously if we don't buy what I like to call the "half a million dollar helmet" he could end up with a serious head injury and the same goes for the "I illegally sold my internal organs to get this jacket and these gloves" because should the need arise they could save his life and his life is after all worth my internal organs.

*moving on*

Next thing you know one of hubby's co-workers/friends who lives in our neighborhood went out and bought one too - then our newest and best-est neighbors ever decided to get one too. Now my garage is like bike week and Brooke is calling her father and his friend "Mr. & Mrs. Motorcycle" and as if that's not enough our vocabulary has been limited to:

Bike, Motorcycle, Suzuki, Helmet, Shoei, Jacket, Gloves, Helmets, Icon, Yoshimura, Moto Race, Motorcycle Show, Super Bikes, Cycle Gear, as well as various websites, forums, blah blah blah.

I will give him one thing though, he does look quite sexy on it. :)
